In the first year of my PhD, I mainly worked on a project about Aristotelian theory of modality, a topic to which I dedicated my Master dissertation, and which has been called by many scholars the “Realm of Darkness”, due to its many obscurities and difficulties.
Currently, I am interested in studying theories of modality by medieval logicians, in particular I am now engaged in studying Abelard’ modal theory and its relation to Abelard’s metaphysics (look here) and to Abelard’ theory of logical consequence (here).
Another topic I am interested in is the use of thought experiments and of imaginative cases by medieval authors. Again, this topic interests me in its relation to medieval theories of possibility and necessity. I did some research on the use of these “secundum imaginationem” cases in the works of Oxford Calculatores.
